Pam Erickson

I have been working in the high-tech industry for many years as a visual designer specializing in enterprise software applications for web, desktop, and mobile. My strength and passion is in visual design, however, I developed, introduced, and facilitated all stages of a user centered design process within software development project teams before it was a widespread practice.

At IBM, as a Visual Designer, I work from wireframes, interactive prototypes, and/or a workflow click through depending on the complexity of the interactivity of the feature. However, I participate in design thinking activities at each stage, from high level design conceptualization to detailed options at the feature level. We have built in checkpoints within the design team, including stakeholders and users, as well as feasibility discussions with developers.

Hand-off to developers includes high fidelity mockups and detailed visual design specifications which includes
flow, edge cases, controls, and required states. Police appropriate use of design system components & patterns and know when to create custom designs. Once implemented, I can review the build locally via github with live data and provide feedback to developers via "pairs testing".
