Energy Trader
Even moderate changes in weather can drive significant changes in energy prices. WSI Trader represents the next generation of weather decision support platforms by providing all of the key fundamental data in one easy-to-use interactive platform. In a market where time is money, WSI Trader provides highly skillful, first-to-market, actionable data giving commodity traders a valuable edge over those looking at isolated emails and graphics.
My role on this project was mostly visual. The challenge was with the volume of custom screen layouts/templates, multi-level navigation, views, and widgets. Because of the large volume of information on each screen, it was important for the content to stand out over the UI and equally important to provide clear eye scanning direction to users through the visual presentation.

Based on wireframes and prototypes provided by another Product Designer, I developed a custom visual language using fonts, color, and multi-level heirchical grouping schemes for the breath and depth of the project.

Applied the visual language to mockups of approximately 50 different page layout templates and provided detailed visual design specs for the common components.

Used the aforementioned visual language and templates to create a mockup for approximately 100 screens/views and provided detailed visual design specifications for screen.

Created custom widgets, buttons, and navigation controls and provided image assets to developers.

Some of the content used WSI's own custom weather maps which required that I define 3-4 map sizes to maintain a consistent view. In addition, I worked with our internal the "map guru" to improve the look of the maps themeselves, the metadata, and map legends.
