Ucentric Systems, Inc. provides home media networking software for digital home. Its modular digital home software suite includes media centers/gateways, multi-television DVR, and home music software solutions. The company’s platform is used to deliver Internet, telephone, and television content to various screens and speakers in the home. Ucentric Systems also licenses its patented software and hardware to original equipment manufacturers. Ucentric's technology was sold to Motorola in 2005.

I was hired as a "Multi-Media Producer" to create context sensitive Flash demos/ and tours for the Ucentric Home Server online help. Ucentric hired a Product Manager and I immediately introduced a design process to him and explained how it could help the organization. I suggested we bring in consultants to help lead the team through the first part of the process. Soon after, Management made other changes in many areas. With new tools, platform, people, and a process, the product and work environment drastically improved.

 

 

  • Introduced, participated in, and led the engineering team through a product design process for the development of the new Program Guide/DVR GUI for the television including the linking of the remote control buttons to specific interactions with the TV interface.

  • Provided a complete redesign of the visual experience from installation to Customer Support and everthing in between.

  • Continued to produce multimedia pieces for the online help as well as graphics for hardcopy documentation and Marketing.

  • Particpated in user testing.
